Idaho Springs - Cherry Blossom - Monkey Brains

After another visit to our storage unit near Black Hawk, we decided to roll on Idaho Springs for lunch and grocery shopping. Our storage unit visits don't go very well. I point to boxes of geological "papers" from years gone by and ask Chris what is he going to do with them. Surely technology has moved beyond what might be found in these papers. Then there are the boxes of heavy wool coats, probably moth infested, that date back over 30 years ago. We try and pull out a few items, pretending we are making progress, but I don't think so. Maybe a pack of matches is the best solution!
Idaho Springs was one of the first gold mining towns in the Rockies. Now the town finds itself nestled right next to highway 70. Never the less, the town is quite charming, very rustic and some how passed over by the Colorado Chic crowd. Mostly a bunch of old hippies and miners.
We drove around looking for somewhere to eat and settled on The Cherry Blossom. After lunch we started talking with our waitress, Julie. Chris asked if she was from Taiwan, she told us she was from Indonesia. She went on to tell us how much she loved Colorado compared to Jakarta. She said the pollution there was horrible. She said there were 17,000 islands in Indonesia, then mentioned that there were still "Jungle People" who didn't even wear clothes. I asked what they looked like and she spent quite a bit of time trying to find a picture of them on her iPhone. We were asking what they ate, then she digressed to the subject of Monkey Brains being eaten at fine restaurants in Hong Kong. She told us it was on Utube. They hold the monkey so the diners could hit it on the head with a hammer, the story continued and was quite gruesome.
