Miss Shirley FedEx Delivery

Gutsy Jeanie boarded the sinking Miss Shirley boat, not once but twice. I felt like a whimp just gawking at the entire spectacle. Well really someone had to stay back and take photos, and also report any pirates that may have shown up. We reviewed some of Miss Shirley's documentation in the Fedex folder. The boat came from Georgia USA, last purchase price $7,000. A local person told us he entertained the six crew members at his home for a couple of weeks after the boat sank. Apparently the men were from Abaco on their way to Haiti with a shipload of mattresses and clothing. The boat sprung a leak and sank. The Coast Guard tried to help them out but the pumps couldn't work fast enough. Good thing they sank by the shore, there was only one small raft that could only hold one person.
Jeanie McLean photos, a few I took.

The Traveling Pants of the Sisterhood

Hopefully we will never grow into these pants. Jeanie found them on board Miss Shirley, see her holding them up. The hull of Miss Shirley is loaded with all sorts of clothing. Believe the pants belonged to one of the crew since they were found in the cabin. Even brave Jeanie didn't like the idea of going into the scary hull....icky.
The pants may be claimed at the casuarina tree at Gordons, keep the Miss Shirley sisterhood going!

Heading Back from Gordon's

Jeanie spied this quaint place up for "Oction" we couldn't find Ted to inquire about it. Somebody could restore it to its previous glory of a charming pub. The white crab in a bush looked pretty sad.
Found these wonderful shells at Gordon's.

Over The Top Lobster

OK - more lobster photos- thanks Sharie and Jim. Tonight we dine on "old lobster". According to Ralph it is going to be tough meat since the lobster is so old. We will try and suffer through it.

More Lobster Tales.....

We managed to get the lobster in the cooler - head sticking out. Then we all headed to the Outer Edge for drinks and eats. Chris put the lobster head on a stick in the back yard to warn off unruly lobsters. I felt kind of bad about the old Leroy Lobster being taken, but Gayle said it looked so old that its time had come.

Granddaddy of Lobsters

Unbelievable. Four of us went out snorkeling, near where we parked the cars. It's a beautiful spot only 200 feet from the shore, and there's a wall with interesting coral and fish. After a bit of time, Gayle had a leg cramp so we decided to go back with her. That's when Chris saw this giant lobster. He speared it and was wrestling with it but it got away. Sharie tried to help, but she didn't have gloves or anything. By then I had a horrible leg cramp. So we left Chris with his lobster woes and swam back. We told the gang back on the beach about the huge lobster and how sad it was that it had escaped. We were wondering why Chris wasn't showing up and finally saw him coming in. It turned out that he caught up with the lobster and was hand carrying it back.

Glass Ball Beach Adventure

What a day - 9 of us assembled for extreme beach combing and snorkeling. James found one small glass ball, Susie and Jim collected several metal floats, Bruce found two plastic wheels and two floats, Chris a plastic carton, Gayle a toy truck and shovel, me a voodoo doll head and I believe Sharie and Ulla restrained themselves from picking up any junk. Sharie and Chris pose by a terrific bout, a little too big to drag back.
Ulla, Susie, Jim, Gayle, Bruce, Sharie, James, Chris and moi. We hit the beach and took off around 11:15.

Lexi's Famous Ruffle Cake

Nothing like displaying all your own stuff, somebody has to. I squeezed everything on the walls, however my funky plates and tile collections are still hidden away.

Fans are up and painted walls. Only one fan to go. Chris did a great job on the fans, with no help.

Loading Up - Conception Island

The tide was really low, plus there was no dock for easy access. We had to swim ashore. They put our gear in a dinghy and pulled it to the beach. We spent 3 hours on the island, We were all burnt to a crisp. Omar had a clever way of pulling us up on the boat, since there was no ladder.
It was a very long day. We started around 6:30 from our house. Boarded the boat at 8:30 didn't get back until 6:30 to Stella Maris Dock. It was so late we didn't have time to gussie up for dancing at Beach Bungalow. I went as is, had a good start on Dread Locks. We didn't get home until after 11....

Conception Island Bay

There were seven sail boats bobbing in the pristine waters off Conception Island. We walked around the huge pond, and observed tons of turtles, sharks and barracudas in the water. Snorkeling was no good in the spot they dropped us off. The scuba divers had a spectacular dive at the "Wall".

Manatee at Stella Maris Marina

Have to look pretty hard to see it, comes up for a drink of fresh water. Was very cute. We watched it while waiting for our trip to Conception Island.
