Story goes that Ernest's second wife, Pauline, had the pool built for $20,000 (the house only cost $8,000) while Ernest was gone. When he returned and found out he retaliated by dragging home a urinal from a local tavern. Pauline tried to disguise the urinal by adding the huge olive oil jar as a fountain and added tile around the edge of urinal.
