Parque Nacional Tayrona

After blitzing through Santa Marta taking a taxi to the Centro market and catching a local bus, we made it to Tayrona in record time. We were some what unprepared for the primitive conditions of the place.
One pleasant surprise was we got In free! Senior Citizens (adulto mayor). A guy in a Toyota Land-cruiser was at the entrance to the park, he and his brother run an Ecohab. So we went with him and checked into Posada Jasayma. We were quite skeptical - just a notch above camping, no electricity, but what the heck. No hot water either, you wonder what they use to wash dishes. Their place was on the road into Canaveral. It's so hot here it's not too bad taking cold showers. Colombia is just a few miles above the equator, so technically it's winter here.
The main road goes to Canaveral, from there you hike into the park or ride horses or donkeys. With the exception of "Fancy Ecohabs" it's a long trek to camping and primitive cabins. We were soaked in sweat just walking, without heavy backpacks, of course we had 30 years on most of the Hikers....
Walking through the jungle paths were amazing, huge ribbon, snakelike vines dangling from exotic trees everywhere. The bummer was the beaches. Signs posted warning against swimming, over 100 people had drowned there. There was only one beach that was open and the undertow on it was horrible. Plus the water was brown colored.
This is a jumble, bad Internet problems, 100th attempt.
