Alive in Paine Chile

Arrived in Santiago LATE - rented a stick shift Chevy mini car - from Hertz, made it out of the aeropuerto alive, motored south down the PanAmerican highway, (only one incident when I pulled out in front of a car which screeched on its breaks)
We found a motel called La Cabana de Paine that was even spookier than Norman Bates Psycho Motel, but it was a bed and hot shower....all this by midnight. We are presently having breakfast in a restaurant called Bavaria that serves German food. Hope we don't meet "The Boys From Brazil". We will continue on to wine country, plan to stay in Santa Cruz and work out from there visiting vineyards.
First three photos were taken in Arica, that dog isn't dead. Seems that the pooches in Arica simply drop down wherever they feel like, busy sidewalks etc to take a siesta.
The last photo is La Cabana de Paine, we even had a garage for car parking. We flew on Sky Airlines from Arica, stopped in Antofagasta to let off a boy's badminton team, then back in the air to Santiago.
For Marcia, our wardrobes are spare. We each have a red bandana (given to us as napkins in a restaurant in Bluff Utah, yes they have been washed). We each have 4 quick dry shirts, 2 long sleeve shirt, 2 safari shorts/capris, 2 pair safari long pants, lots of under garments, socks, rain jackets, Chris 2 safari vests, me 3 pair shoes, Chris 2 pair shoes, me zip up jacket. When we had our clothes washed in Arequipa my jacket came back minus the zip pull. Now the jacket us one of my major wardrobe essentials, so I displayed the missing zip pull to the desk clerk who said she would contact the laundry lady. While we were gone from our hotel Hostal de Melager, the desk clerk had gone into our room, taken the jacket to have a new zipper put in! That was a nice surprise.
